About Us

Summer Old Summer New Designs started in the Summer of 2012.  It was the brain child of Carrie Ford who had a passion for painting and distressing furniture.  Carrie started by taking a painting class to learn how to paint her own furniture.  She had just purchased a beach house and wanted to furnish it with the "Beach Shabby Chic" look.  After furnishing her Beach house and her main home Carrie started painting furniture and selling it in local consignment shops.  Carrie knew that she was on to something and asked her childhood friend Jen Janson who was a self taught seamstress to go into business together to bring new life to old furniture.

Between the two ladies they have a great eye for color and design.  Both girls have similar taste in style and it shows in the pieces they refinish.  They are not scared to use color.  Carrie has taken this business on as a second job.  She is a full time mom to one sweet adorable 3 year old and full time Medical Sales Rep.  Jen has taken this business on as a full time job and is also a full time mom to identical twin 7 year old boys and a 3 year old little girl.  Needless to say both girls stay busy.

The summer of 2013 Summer Old Summer New made some big changes.  Carrie is expecting baby #2 and works full time so she has backed away from painting for a while.  Jen decided to become a Maison Blanche Vintage Paint Retailer and in the Spring of 2014 is opening her own store.  Summer Old Summer New furniture is still available at The Whitehouse Trading Co. in Bel Air and coming Spring 2014 to The Painted Mill in Fallston.  They are always looking to expand. You can always bring them your old furniture that you would like custom painted or they will help you find a used piece to paint.  To make an appointment or ask a question call Jen @ 410.952.1800
